| Importing Molecular Information |
With DrugDesign, Evince can import two types of files holding molecular information, files with SMILES and sdf files. This kind of information can later be used for creating molecular tables or plots and for calculating descriptors.
SMILES
SMILES is an abbreviation for Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry Specification. SMILES is a way to describe a molecule with a text string. A data file containing SMILES has a column with text strings, which represents the molecules. During the import, SMILES text strings in slate bluish color appear to the left.

If the column containing SMILES is not detected or if all import settings are cleared, it can be set as SMILES during the import.
Sdf files
Sdf is an abbreviation for Structure Data File. Sdf files contain both structural information about molecules and regular data. During the import, the sdf file is treated as an ordinary data file and no extra column appears for the molecular information. The molecular information is read into the memory.
