| Key Functionality |
Evince is designed with an open appearance where features and tools are visible and easily accessible from the workspace. The workspace is divided into several areas, each with a specific functionality. A central part of the Evince workspace is the Data Tree found to the left. From the Data Tree, the user works with "drag and drop" techniques to create plots and tables by dragging data onto the Plot Area and Table Area. Multivariate models are also easily created from the Data Tree and their components can be visualized using the drag and drop technique.
An important feature of Evince is that models can be updated instantly without having to create a new data set. The user can modify the model by including and excluding observations or variables in the DataSet table, and clicking on apply changes. The model and its visualizations are then automatically adjusted.
Another central feature in Evince is the visible interaction between data tables and plots. A selection in the data will also create a selection in the corresponding plot, and vice versa. This kind of immediate feedback makes it possible to quickly trace important relationships within the data.
The following section describes a typical Evince workflow.
