| Image File Import - step 1 |
Image Analysis provides import of various kinds of image files. Please see Appendix II for a complete list of import formats available in Evince.
During the first step of the image import (viewing the Pixels tab), the user will view an RGB representation of the imported image. At the top of the window, the image pixel dimensions shown. Rows and Columns denotes the dimensions in pixels, while Channels are the number of wavelenghts or channels. The user can select certain image areas or channels to include or exclude.

If the "Area" selection tools is active, the user can select an area in the image to be included only. Image selection is done by clicking and holding the left mouse button while dragging the mouse pointer. Press the "Include only" button to exclude all image areas but the selected.

If the "Horizontal / Vertical" selection tool is active, the user can select a horizontal or vertical area to be included or exclude.Horizontal selection is done by clicking and holding the left mouse button while dragging the mouse pointer in horizontal direction. Vertical selection is done by clicking and holding the mouse button while dragging the mouse pointer in vertical direction. Then press the "Include / Exclude" buttons to include or exclude an image area.

The bottom of the dialog contains a field for showing the spectra of a limited selection of the selected area. This field will be empty until a selection has been made. The user can exclude certain ranges by selecting them in the field and by pressing the exclude button for channels. The selection is made by clicking and holding the left mouse button while dragging the mouse button in a certain direction. The excluded channels will turn grey when the operation is finished. In this way, noisy regions of the spectra can be removed so that they will never enter the modeling at any stage. It is also possible to hover the mouse over a pixel to see its spectrum.
