In the first tab of the selections dialog, "Categories", it is possible to select observations or variables that belong to one or more classes of a category. The "Direction" shows whether observations or variables are to be selected. In the "Category" combo-box, the user can choose category. The second tab, "N Nearest" lets the user select the N nearest neighbors of a number of selected points. Use the Merge button to combine the original data points with the calculated nearest neighbors.

Dialog options:

- Select all: Selects all observations/variables.

- Clear: Clears the current selection.

- Invert: Selects all observations/variables currently not selected.

- Select: Selects the marked classes.

- Merge: Merges the current selection with marked classes.

- Intersect: Selects observations/variables that overlap with the current and the new selection.

- Close: Closes this dialog.
