In Evince, modifications are additions or updates to the imported data set. The easiest way to add a modification is to right-click on a DataSet table to access the table menu and the "New modification " option. The modification wizard will guide the user in adding a new modification.

There are four kinds of modifications in Evince; Category, New Variable/Observation, Transformation and Identifier. These are available for direct selection or can be chosen from the wizard. For Category and Identifier, the options are identical regardless of whether observations or variables are being processed. However, for transformations, the options are different between observations and variables.
